The Right Image
This is a must to gain an advantage in your image branding. JPG image and DPI
What is a JPG? The JPG image file type, typically pronounced jay-peg, was developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) in 1992. The group realized a need to make large photographic files smaller, so that they could be more easily shared. Some quality is compromised when an image is converted to a JPG.
Dots per inch (DPI, or dpi) is a measure of spatial printing, video or image scanner dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the span of 1 inch (2.54 cm)
Your desktop and printer are designed to work and print images, right? Well yes, but that image you can print to your printer may look good. That same image may not work for all of your branding and printing needs.
Internet – online for your website or emailing an image at 72-dpi in a jpg is right for your job.
Newspaper – do send the newspaper an image at 125-dpi in a jpg (any higher resolution dpi will bring to much ink to your image and may not be clear to see or read.
Magazine – 300-dpi or higher in resolution in a jpg format is outstanding. 500kb to a few mb’s is a must. (2.5mb)
